Shaggy-haired or Scottish highland cow (Scottish: "Ghàidhealach" / "kyloe") is a domestic breed native to the Scottish highlands, they live in the area near the Arctic Circle. Today, it is raised for beef in many places such as Europe, North America and Australia. Animals have a striking feature of hair that helps them adapt to inclement weather conditions. They are a quality beef breed. Highland cows have long horns and a long, wavy black, speckled, red and yellow long coat and are usually raised for meat. Native to the Highlands and West Isles of Scotland and was first mentioned in the 6th century AD. There are two distinct types of this cow that were first described in the 1885 book. One is a Kyloe breed native to islands with harsher conditions. Cattle tend to have more frequent and smaller black fur with longer hair, due to the more rougher terrain conditions. Another type is terrestrial. The trends are bigger, because their grasslands are rich in nutrients.
